It is well known that it is not enough for a good ranking to only have an optimized website for the keywords. More important are links from other sites to your website. It is of course not bad to know something about the special kinds of Links.

If you find a website with witch you want to exchange links contact the webmaster and offer him a link from your website. You get a backlink pointing from his website to your website if he agrees. Because both sites link to each other there are Two Way Links or reciprocal links. You should make sure that you get links from related websites, it will be better appreciated by Google. Look for links from your competitors, they are most related. But you would rather sell your own product and do not want to advise the product of your competitors. more..Getting Backlinks

Two Way Links don’t boost your ranking significantly in Google, of course they are better than no links. What Google likes are One Way Links. Thats a link pointing from the other website to your site, and you don’t link back to the other website. You can get such links from web directories. But they contribute less and less to a high-quality ranking. Since they are very related, One Way Links from your competitors would be again the best. You sure have problems to find someone who gives you a link for nothing in return.

However if you have two partners B and C, you can proceed differently. You (A) link to B and B links to C and not back to A. C gets a link from B and in return links to A. Everybody gets an incoming link, but for which there is no direct outgoing link. All are linked in a triangle: A -> B -> C -> A. Google sees only incoming One-Way Links, that’s the best for the ranking. more..getting many backlinks

If you have many domains you can achieve improved ranking with clever linking. What do you do, if you have only one ore a few sites. The solution for this are Link Networks. Thousands of sites of the members are linked together. The three- or polygonal linking takes place over the network for a moderate monthly payment. more..getting many backlinks

As small business owners, we need to find traffic for our websites from wherever we can get it — assuming, of course, that the source is relevant traffic. Irrelevant traffic actually HURTS your website rank in the search engines so we don’t want that. For that reason, we are not fans of reciprocal linking schemes, link farms, etc.

Case in point. I recently met with a new client in Los Angeles who needed to market their small business website. They had previously enjoyed a Page Rank of 5 for their website. Over the past two years, it has dropped to a Page Rank of 3. This was due to a number of factors, but chief among those was the fact that they had been forced into a reciprocal linking arrangement with an unscrupulous vendor. It benefited the vendor tremendously, as they were able to show the search engines that their site was being ranked to from a PR5 website; it made the vendor’s site more “buoyant” (it made it rank higher) in the search engines. The moral of the story is, be very careful if someone offers to do you the “favor” of creating a link to your site, in exchange to linking from yours. It could be detrimental to your website’s Search Engine health.

Nevertheless, you should look for opportunities to receive links from relevant websites whenever possible. It might not seem fair to “take” a link without giving one back, but there are other ways you can help the linking website. If they have a satellite website, you could consider linking to that in the body of one of your posts — relevant topic / contextual link / deep link to the satellite site. Just be careful that the link partner understands that directly linking from the satellite site to their main site will not be nearly as good as if they link in a broad circle of 10 sites before returning to the main site. This is somewhat sophisticated SEO / linking strategy that we’re sharing, so it’s not for everyone to implement on their own. It also implies that you have up to 10 web properties that are all somewhat related that can be daisy chained together… Again, not for everyone. But definitely for businesses that want to insure being on Page 1 on Google. ;)

It requires a lot of time, attention and planning to implement a 10-site daisy chain strategy, and we encourage you to go into that with plenty of forethought. Take the time to not only analyze and eliminate any chance of reciprocal linking or neighbor linking possibilities in the chain, and also insure that whomever in your organization will be managing your website network understands this strategy. A small business SEO Policy is a very smart investment in resources. It takes relatively little time for a website to fall in page rank, and a significantly greater amount of time to gain rank — especially after it is lost.

The underlying issue of Page Rank has been said to be overrated, and it’s largely a symbol of the site’s overall bouyancy in the search engines… it’s not necessarily a goal for a web owner to achieve a particular page rank; it’s more of a barometer or guideline than a definitive benchmark or landing point. The website owner with a page rank of 0 would certainly agree that a page rank of 5 would represent that his/her traffic has achieved more traffic (visitors), more conversions and more leads & sales. That’s really the benchmark we’re aiming for.

I’ve been doing quite a bit of research into the world of travel websites and how best to save money on vacation travel. Of particular interest is trying to find the best hotel deals online.

Of course travel is a huge category at search engines like Google and Live Search, and there are tons of websites that offer to help us find the best pricing. Some are well known because of all their advertising on TV and elsewhere. But there are lots of websites that I had never heard of, all of them wanting to set me up with hotel reservations or other services.

I have come to the opinion that there is no magic source for travel deals, but there are numerous great sources that will help us get the best possible pricing assuming your brother-in-law isn’t the CEO of say Starwood Hotels.

One option is to use a website that runs your search on several other travel sites and airline sites; they basically organize the search for you. That’s helpful to a point, but since major websites like Travelocity offer a low-price guarantee, you’re not likely to see big differences in price most of the time, even when checking a lot of other competing sites.

Some of the websites will monitor prices for you over time, to grab any great travel deals or airfare discounts that come along. That works OK if you start early enough in advance of your trip to let them watch for you. And, of course, you can look for last-minute deals at nearly all the major websites; they usually have a page or more just for such specials. That option requires that you have quite a bit of flexibility in your travel plans.

It might be best to find a major travel site that offers all the important search options, last-minute deals, price guarantee, etc., and also has a well-established track record of top-notch customer service. A great deal on a hotel room doesn’t mean much if the reservation is lost or the hotel doesn’t know anything about the special price you found online. So my inclination is to stay away from the secondary travel sites for the most part.

Link building is just one aspect of search engine optimization, but it is an important one, so create a link building strategy and keep on building links to the pages on your site. You will see an improvement in your search engine rankings and an increase in the traffic to your site .Links are our means to rise above our competitors. Higher exposure in the search engine means what? Link building is a very important part of SEO as each page linking to your website is classed as a ‘vote’ for your site – the more votes you have the higher you will rank. You can check how many website are linking to your URL (often called backlinks, inlinks, inward links, inbound links or incoming links) by using our backlink checker.

Link exchanging allows your site to appear on other sites, bringing in traffic to your site. It will also give you another link that search engines will use in determining your page rank. Link auctions have 1,000s of active members. Here you can bid on the links you need or if you have space on a great website you can sell text link ads on your website through auctions and make some money on your website.

Keywords don’t have to be single words. They can, and should, be keyword phrases relevant to the content of that page. Keyword density refers to the ratio (percentage) of keywords contained within the total text content of the page. Keyword proximity refers to the closeness between two or more keywords. Keywords should also appear in your filenames, anchor text and Meta tags.

Keyword targeting your domain name also helps but it seems that so many people start to lose sight of that. You can build quality traffic from organic results by utilizing good internal site linking structure using anchor text links based off of your keyword targeted domain name as well. Keywords that you intend to optimize should also be placed within your content. Avoid repeating the keywords too many times, as search engines will view this as a spam and blacklist your site. Keyword rankings must be seen as your top advertising goal!

Website directories are constructed to make a visitor’s experience convenient and hassle free. The pleasant experience a potential customer encounters when using a website directory will directly affect their overall impression of your home business. Websites will get noticed by the search engines as well by the link and other traffic.

Directories are large repositories of links that are organized based on categories. There are hundreds of these directories and the majority of them are going to contain a number of sites that will be able to share links and provide you with a wealth of exposure that you need in order to be able to promote your website. Directories typically classify the various websites, thus when one visitor clicks on a particular website, there is a good probability for the other websites to be viewed as well. This is primarily due to a sharing of links.

Search engines rank sites according to several factors. One of the most important factors in Page Rank is the number of legitimate links to your page that exist on the internet. Search engine optimization (SEO) is often more of an art than a science.

Search engines like content rich pages, so try to optimize your deep pages for keywords that match their content. That’s better than trying to make your home page cover too much ground. Search engines tend to love sites with lots of frequently updated, relevant content. This is the type of forum you want to join. Search engines always have and always will look for the best content.

Submit your blog in web directories and social networks: When you submit your link in social networks they help you to get indexed in google quickly and improve your PR since every submission is a backlink. About the directories, you need to look for good ones, for directory sites that are indexed deep (with too many backlinks translated to a good PR) so it helps your PR to grow. Submit your web site to Web Directories: This can be a very monotonous process; however it can possibly net you several hundred backlinks. An alternative would be to hire someone to manually submit your site to directories.

Google and Yahoo’s latest search algorithms have evolved to the point where they favor websites that maintain a high level of incoming non-reciprocating (one way links) as opposed to websites that contain a high percentage of reciprocated links . Multi way refers to the fact that the link exchange is between three or more websites, however each link is singular by pointing to one other website.

You cannot just practise SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) without some kind of experience or information to go on. The better information you have to go on will mean the better you are at optimizing your websites content for good search engine results & rankings. I have some tips and tricks you can use to start your SEO road to success and for the best results I’d suggest finishing off your website prior to submitting it to search engines, so no half finished websites or content would be acceptable.

1. One of the best tips many SEO professionals will give you is to not stuff your content with keywords you’re trying to target, but instead place the recommended amount of keywords which is around the 4% – 7% of your websites content – so the more content you have will mean more keywords according to the percentage.

2. Make good use of the heading tag. Insert a reasonable amount of keywords you’re trying to target with the obvious phrases and descriptions.

3. Choose your keywords wisely. There is no chance in this world you’re going to get to the top of page one on Google if you’re attempting to target highly competitive keywords such as “Coding” – but instead use more realistic keywords and phrases such as “Coding tutorials” or “Easy coding tutorials” and then in the long term who knows you may well be a big competitor to others for the keyword “Coding” as an example.

4. Many Search Engine Optimisation consultants will tell you that content is king. If you do not have enough content (being content that is well written and uses your keywords wisely) then you’ll not get very far when looking to get high in the rankings.

5. Back links are very important and should be worked on day in day out if you’re to rank highly for competitive search terms. The most highly ranked websites often have thousands of back links which ranks them well in big search engines. A good place to begin when building links is to submit to website directories and blogs.
